Hurricane Electric Presents Web SIG
Fremont, California - September 18, 2006 - Hurricane Electric, a leading Internet Backbone and Colocation Provider, announced today that Web SIG, the new Silicon Valley based users group it sponsors, will discuss wiki technology at its inaugural meeting, being held on October 25, 2006.

Web SIG will dedicate its first meeting to a comprehensive discussion on wiki technology entitled "Wiki Technology & Trends: Past, Now, and Future." A wiki is a type of website that allows visitors to easily contribute or edit content with just a browser and without HTML code, making it an effective tool for collaborative authoring. The meeting will include a panel discussion led by industry experts including Ben Elowitz, CEO at; Jeff Walker, President at Atlassian Software Systems; Dr. Jonas M Luster, Community Manager at Socialtext; and Scott Johnston, Vice President of Products at JotSpot. Peter Thoeny, Founder at & Co-founder at StructuredWikis LLC, will moderate the discussion, which will touch on Wiki 1.0, Wiki 2.0, and future Wiki 3.0, including such topics as mistakes from Wiki 1.0, how Wiki 2.0 customized into Wiki applications and Social Wikis, and what Wiki 3.0 can do for us in distant future.

"Web 2.0 is about collaboration and sharing information online. Collaborative Wikis are gaining popularity rapidly in the form of Wiki applications and Social Wikis. Can wikis outperform Blogs to become the main stream of web publishing? Can wikis outsmart traditional web applications? What is the outlook for Wiki 3.0? These questions will be discussed by the founders and executives of the key Wiki players in the market," said Bess Ho, Chair and Founder of Web SIG.

"There is nothing more exciting than introducing our first meeting with a discussion panel consisting of five top leading wiki experts," added Bess Ho, Chair and Founder of Web SIG.
