Our favorite restaurants, and comments about each. or look at Hotels.

Sri Lanka Curry House --- This one has to be first, cuz its by far our favorite.
----- Be careful when ordering - the food will be the hottest you have ever had, and as far as we are concerned the best. The food is served as mild, medium, hot and sometimes extra hot. Monday is you price the menu night. And every night there is live Sri Lankan entertainment. Sri Lanka Curry House is located in the Uptown area of Minneapolis, on Hennepin Ave. 2 blocks North of Lake St.

The Rock Bottom Brewery --- A micro-brewery with great food and great beer.
---- At the Rock Bottom there is always 4 to 7 different beers brewing. I have tried most of them and they have all been very good. Stillwater Stout being my favorite. There food is very good for a brewpub. There garlic mash potatoes are delicious and there pepper roasted filet mignon is unbelievable. Pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, get there early. Especially before a Timberwolves game. They serve the same menu in the bar as in the restaurant. There is also TV's in the bar. There wine list is tiny, so don't come for a good bottle of wine.

The Loon Cafe --- A fun restaurant
---- A pretty cool restaurant, one block north of the Target Center on First Ave. The place to be on a Friday or Saturday night. Busy a lot of the time so get there early. Can be loud and crowded at night. Great menu huge variety of food, including some vegetarian. Great Tex Mex and Mexican food. Sports memorabilia on the walls. But not a sports bar. Servings are huge so be ready.

Black Forest Inn --- German Style Tavern
---- Authentic German food and beer served in an atmosphere that is reminisent of Old World Germany. Its outdoor garden surrounded by climbing ivys and trellising vines is a perfect place to spend a lazy summer evening. Make sure to be sipping on an imported Paulaner Hefe-Weisse (Pausha's fav) or a Dortmunder Dark (Danny's fav.) We mainly stop for the beer...but the food is good too.

Buca Restaurant(downtown) --- Best downtown Italian
---- In Italian Buca means basement, located downtown east of Hennepin. This is a great place, especially with a group of people servings are served family style. With huge helpings. Kind of a cool atmosphere, menus are painted on the walls. I would highly suggest this place if your in the mood for lots of Italian food. Although I havent been there myself, sources say the Buca restaurant located in the south suburbs just isnt as good as the downtown Buca. Maybe its just the atmosphere.

Our favorite hotels, and comments about each
Marriott City Center --- Our favorite hotel
---- A very nice hotel located right next to just about everything. One block from the Target Center. A few blocks from the Metrodome and walking distance to the Wharehouse district and hundreds of restaurants and bars. Ask for the 2 for breakfast weekend, us$89 gets you a room free parking in ramp, and $20 for breakfast in the Marriotts Papaya's restaurant. This hotel is highly recommended. Its location is on the corner of 7th St. and Hennepin Ave.

Radisson Plaza Hotel --- Beautiful Hotel & Lobby
---- Located right across 7th St. from the Marriott City Center. A beautiful hotel with a Roman marble style lobby. Connected to Daytons and the skyway this is another great hotel to spend a weekend getaway. Very quiet and the rooms are great. A little more money than the Marriott, but a more luxourious atmosphere.

Embassy Suites Downtown --- Lets Party!
---- Located on 7th St. right by the Metrodome. The only place to stay if you are going to see a Vikings or a Twins game. Game night is always crowded so book your rooms early. This used to be a Crown Sterling Suites, before that it was an Embassy Suites, now its back to being an Embassy Suites. Great hotel if you are with another couple and on a more limited budget. Ninety-Nine dollars should cover all four people and free breakfast the next morning. The nice living room area with table and fridge is great for that after game cards and beers.

DoubleTree Suites Hotel --- Outside of downtown
---- Located on I-394 and Park Place Ave. About 2 miles from downtown right on I-394, great place to stay if you dont want to be downtown but would still like to visit there. Short drive or cheap cab ride. Very nice rooms, great pool area with big pool and jacuzzi. The bar area is also a real nice place to relax. They have great weekend rates. Lots of restaurants within a couple of blocks if you dont want to venture downtown.
