Publish Your FrontPage Web

Before attempting to publish your FrontPage Web, make sure your Hurricane Electric Virtual Host Account is configured with FrontPage. You can request that your account be configured with FrontPage by writing to info@he.net. If you're not sure if your account is configure with FrontPage you can check by logging into the Billing Database. If the words FrontPage Enabled appear in the upper right, then your account is FrontPage enabled. Non-Virtual Host Accounts (accounts without a domain name or IP Address) can not be configured with FrontPage.

Once an account is configured with FrontPage, use of ftp with the account is not recommended and should only be attempted by professionals. In most cases mixing ftp with FrontPage will break FrontPage.

If you don't have an account with Hurricane Electric, you can get one now!

  1. After creating a Web locally on your computer, you can publish it  to your web site from your FrontPage Explorer. Click on Publish FrontPage Web in the File menu:

  2. Enter your account's domain name in the Destination Web Server or File Location: text box. This should be your own domain name and not the domain name of the server your account is on. Leave Connect Using SSL and the Name of Destination FrontPage Web: text box blank.
  3. Click OK.

  4. Enter your username and password.
  5. Wait several minutes for the connection to be made and for the files to be transferred. You can see the progress on your FrontPage Explorer lower left corner. A pop up window will display Web copied successfully when the transfer is completed.
