Install ws_ftp following the instructions that came with the program. When you order an account from Hurricane Electric you are sent an account verification email. The beginning of it should look something like this: Date: Mon, 1 May 2000 14:31:28 -0700 From: Customer Support <support@he.net> To: bobbyw@he.net Subject: Your New Account "rflyer" on Server "he.net" Thank you for your order! Here is your account: Account: rflyer Password: xk23fj4 Machine: he.net We will be using the above account information for our example. Launch the ws_ftp application. You should have the following window on your screen: ![]() Your's should have most of the fields empty. You'll recall in the sample new account email it said: Here is your account: Account: rflyer Password: xk23fj4 Machine: he.net Here's where we'll put that information:
Now you're ready to connect. Click on "OK." You'll see a window that looks something like this: ![]() In the left hand side window is the contents of your computer. On the right hand side window is the contents of your home directory on our server. First you should locate the file you want to upload from your computer. Navigate through the directories on your PC in the right hand window, find the your document and click on it. Now you'll need to change to the public_html directory in your account. It's in the right hand window. Double click on it. This is similar to what you should see: ![]() Now click on the button with the arrow pointing to the right that's in the middle of the window. Your document will
be uploaded and appear in the right hand side window. Here's how it might look:
Congratulations! You've just uploaded your first file. Now all that's left to do is click on "Close" to disconnect from the server. |
