SEA OTTER KAYAK RENTALS feature NECKY, BOREAL DESIGN and
LIGHTSPEED KAYAKS.These kayaks offer excellent stability for the novice
paddler as well as performance for the experienced paddler. All come
equipped with rudders, front and
rear flotation bulkheads and room for extended trips. We provide all
paddling
equipment and training to make your self guided
experience ADVENTUROUS and FUN! Kayak delivery and pick-up included to
Gustavus beach or Bartlett Cove in Glacier Bay National Park.

ALL RENTALS INCLUDE: Lightweight adjustable paddle, spray skirt, type III life jackets, dry bags, bilge pump, sponge, chart case, tide table, and rubber boots. Rain gear is available at extra cost.
FOR YOUR SAFETY: All paddlers must attend our basic kayak orientation. Paddlers in Glacier Bay National Park must also attend a back country orientation.
RENTAL REQUIREMENTS: A child 8 or older may accompany a parent or guardian in a double kayak. All minors (under 18yrs) must have Release Agreement signed by parent or legal guardian. All rental customers must be 18yrs and complete a RELEASE AGREEMENT and RENTAL AGREEMENT form. All solo paddlers must complete the STATEMENT OF SKILLS/EXPERIENCE form. Sea Otter Kayak Glacier Bay reserves the right to refuse service to anyone that its management or employees determine do not have the physical ability, skill level, or experience needed for this activity.
DROP-OFFS: We can help arrange for one-way , return-trip, or multi-drop transportation into Glacier Bay National Park aboard the M/V Baranof Wind. Reservations are required for this water taxi service. Drop-off locations for the 2006 season are Seebree Island and Blue Mouse Cove. Check with us for the latest info. Prices for transportation (including your kayak) are $107.00 per person one-way, $214.00 per person return-trip. Child rates are $107.00 round trip and $53.50 one-way. All sales on the Baranof Wind include 2% sales tax, and a 5% utility surcharge applied by the Glacier Bay Lodge operator of the Baranof Wind.
TOURS:
For those who would rather day paddle, Sea Otter Kayak
can reserve space for you to see the glaciers aboard the M/V Baranof Wind .
From the M/V Baranof Wind you can view wildlife
and travel to the far reaches of Glacier
Bay to experience the tidewater glaciers from the deck of this high
speed
catamaran, and return again the same day. A day tour of Glacier Bay
aboard
the Baranof Wind is $172.00 per adult,
$86.00 per child (lunch provided).
All
sales on the Baranof Wind include 2% sales tax, and a 5% utility
surcharge applied
by
the Glacier Bay Lodge operator of the Baranof Wind.
CHARTERS:
Sea Otter Kayak can arrange custom charter drop-offs
to watch whales at Pt. Adolphus, Inian Islands, Elfin Cove or other
locations outside Glacier Bay National Park. We also can arrange
sightseeing, photography, fishing and whale watching tours. Contact us
for prices and availability.
TRANSPORTATION: Transportation to and from Gustavus is via local air taxi or ferry. Check with us for current prices of local air taxis. Prices vary from $150- $160 RT. Air taxi flights can be scheduled to fit your arrival into Juneau. Flight time is approximately 25 minutes. Daily flights from Haines and Skagway are also available. Adult fares are $250 round trip,$130 one way. The Alaska Marine Highway travels to Glacier Bay National Park twice a month departing Juneau at 8am and arriving at Bartlett Cove at 3:15pm and departing at 5:15pm returning to Juneau. By pre- arrangement Sea Otter Kayak can meet you on arrival at Bartlett Cove for transportation to our kayak livery. Allow one extra day before departing on your trip for preparations if arriving by ferry. Due to high fuel costs Sea Otter Kayak will add a $10 fuel surcharge to all group reservation made after June 1.
Gustavus also receives daily jet service from Alaska Airlines although that flight arrives in the late afternoon and does not allow ample time to prepare for departure on your paddling trip the next morning. If you arrive on Alaska Airlines please allow one extra preparation day before departing on your trip. You may arrive earlier in the day via local air taxi and still be able to depart on your trip the next morning.
RESERVATIONS AND
PAYMENT: Advance reservations are encouraged.
Half payment is required to secure your kayak reservation, at the time
you book it .
Full payment is due prior to your departure. A $50 plus tax
cancellation
fee may be applied with less than a 30 day notice of cancellation for
kayak
rentals. A cancellation fee of up to 1/2 the rental fee plus tax may be
applied to reservations canceled with less than 14 days notice. Full
payment
is required to secure a reservation for a drop-off or day tour on the M/V
Baranof Wind.
